On Thursday October 5, the Les O'Brien Precinct in Albury bore witness to an exceptional display of talent and determination as 51 students from Greater Shepparton Secondary College participated in the Hume Region Track & Field Championships. The results were nothing short of extraordinary, as GSSC emerged victorious, securing the top spot in the overall school rankings for the second consecutive year with our students taking home a total of 14 gold, 22 silver and 21 bronze medals for the day. This outstanding achievement is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and competitive spirit of our student athletes.

A special round of applause is due to Fofoa Tulimafono and Djura Weston for their spectacular performances which saw them both crowned age group champion in their respective divisions. Fofoa's remarkable feat of securing four silver medals in the 15 years 100m, 200m, 400m, and shot-put events exemplifies her versatility and athletic prowess. Djura's achievement of three gold medals in the 17 years 100m, long jump, and high jump, along with a silver in the triple jump, demonstrates her exceptional talent and dedication to her sporting career.

Several other GSSC competitors displayed their extraordinary skills and determination by securing first place in their respective events, earning the right to represent the school at the School Sport Victoria Track & Field Championships in Melbourne, which took place on Monday, October 16. These athletes proudly carried the GSSC banner to Albert Park, representing the school with pride and determination.
