Greater Shepparton Secondary College’s Careers Team is focused on working with our students to help them identify the right pathway for them – whether that means moving onto further study post Year 12, or seeking employment, an apprenticeship or traineeship.
The Careers Team has been specifically structured to provide the very best support for our students. Each Neighbourhood has its own Careers Hub, staffed by a qualified Careers Practitioner. Susan Barr (Biyala), Greg Bristol (Dharnya) and Dan Watson (Bayuna) are on-hand to provide advice and direction regarding post-school options as well as guide students in the best way to develop their work and employability skills.
Careers Manager, Natasha Boyko is also a qualified Careers Practitioners who works with the Neighbourhood Careers Practitioners, Colleen Wilkinson, Priority Cohorts coordinator and Lisa Kerr, Partnerships Manager to provide additional support.
Each Neighbourhood Careers Hub, located on Level 1, provides a centralised point for students to access information and have conversations with their Careers Practitioner. Students are able to book appointments with their Neighbourhood Careers Practitioner via Teams or email, or can drop by the Careers Hub.
Careers support and subject advice is provided to students across all year levels with careers focussed content included in the curriculum from Year 7. My Career Insights (Morrisby) is a specialist program the Careers Team deliver to Year 9 students. From Year 9 onwards students will also benefit from increased involvement from the Team when selecting their subjects.
The College’s careers website www.gssccareers.com provides valuable resources focusing on workplace safety, post-school options and senior student specific information. The Student Secure Area enables students to complete a Resume, Career Action Plan and a variety of quizzes to identify their skills, strengths and areas of interest.
