30 August 2021

Dear Parents, Carers and Students

I write with some important advice from the Victorian Department of Health.

As you are aware, Primary Close Contacts from our school community are to continue to remain in quarantine for 14 days. This includes students and staff of our Greater Shepparton Secondary College Wanganui and McGuire campuses, which are classed as Tier 1 exposure sites.

They will need to be tested on Day 13 and return a negative result before quarantine can be lifted on receipt of Department of Health advice. This test cannot occur before Day 13. As previously advised, Day 13 for our school community is Thursday, 2 September.

Tier 1 secondary close contacts (household members) are not required to get tested on Day 13, but if they feel they need to be tested they should avoid doing so on 2 September. This date is for primary contacts only.

To facilitate testing on Day 13, Thursday, 2 September will be a pupil-free day for all GSSC students and staff from all campuses. There will be no remote learning on these days.

Day 13 testing also includes St Mel’s Primary School, Bourchier St Primary School and Notre Dame College, as well as our GSSC Wanganui and McGuire campuses. So, to further facilitate testing, the Department of Health has asked schools to attend Shepparton COVID-19 testing sites at the following times:

  • St Mel’s Primary School - to attend between 8am-1pm
  • GSSC McGuire and Wanganui Campus - Years 7-8 to attend 8am-1pm, and Years 10-12 to attend from1pm to closing time, at any testing location
  • Notre Dame College - Years 7,8,10-12 to attend between 1pm to closing time
  • Bourchier Street Primary School - to attend between 8am-1pm.

If parents have children in multiple year levels or schools, then they can attend at the time allocated to the youngest child.

If families are unable to attend during the time allocated, then please make your way to one of the testing sites as soon as you are able.

If families miss their Day 13 COVID test you can still come forward to be tested on Friday, 3 September and Saturday, 4 September.

The COVID-19 testing stations and operating times are:

  • Shepparton Showgrounds, High St, Shepparton (enter from Archer St). This is a drive-through site but will accommodate walk-ins if requested. Opening times are 8am to 8pm, subject to demand.
  • Mooroopna Recreation Reserve, (enter from Murray Valley Highway). Drive-through site open 8am to 8pm.
  • Shepparton Sports Precinct, two sites, drive-through lanes at the Netball Courts and two lanes at the back of the Soccer Fields. Open 8am-6pm, subject to demand.
  • GV Health Respiratory Clinic, Graham St, Shepparton. Walk-up site only open 8am-4pm.
  • Harness Racing complex, Goulburn Valley Highway. Drive-through site open 9am to 5pm, subject to demand.

Your quarantine will end once your negative test is received by the Department of Health.

The Department advises that Primary Close Contacts will receive their clearance by SMS message. Multiple SMS messages may be received if there is more than one child linked to a mobile number. If clearance is not received, then you can call the Department of Health on 1800 675 398.

Please present with your unique registration number (URN) at the time of testing. If you do not have a URN go to https://testtracker.covid19.dhhs.vic.gov.au/citizen-prefill

A reminder that our Mooroopna and Invergordon campuses have been downgraded to Tier 2 sites, so students and staff have been released from quarantine and do not require testing (unless they have COVID-19 symptoms). Students from these campuses will also have a pupil-free day on Thursday.

I will continue to provide updates from our school and the Department of Health as it comes to hand. I again thank you and our entire school community for your patience, understanding and support during this time.

Yours sincerely,

Barbara O’Brien
Executive Principal

Dear Families,

As we enter another week of lockdown and with many if us still in quarantine, please be aware of the range of supports that are available for you to access. I have also included the Commonwealth COVID-19 disaster payments explained.
