Parents and carers must register now for the week 31 May to 3 June 2021 for onsite learning, if they qualify under the following categories, during the lockdown period. This is in line with strict protocols introduced by the Department of Education and Training for public schools across Victoria. The application form for the week of 31 May to 3 June 2021 is attached. It must be completed and emailed to GSSC by 4.00pm on Saturday 29 May 2021. Parents will be notified of their application's success or otherwise by the close of business on Sunday 30 May 2021. All students accessing on-site learning will be on their usual campus.All students who can study from home must study from home, except for students in the following categories:

  1. Children on days when they are not able to be supervised from home and no other arrangements can be made. This will be available for children of parents who cannot work from home, and vulnerable children, including: children in out-of-home care; children deemed by Child Protection and/or Family Services to be at risk of harm; children identified by the school as vulnerable (including via referral from a family violence agency, homelessness or youth justice service or mental health or other health service and children with a disability)
  2. For learning requirements that cannot be conducted via distance, and considering operational requirements, small groups of VCE and VCAL students are permitted to attend school, with appropriate physical distancing and hygiene measures in place.

As you would be aware the Acting Premier has announced a lockdown for the State of Victoria commencing tonight (Thursday 27 May 2021) from Midnight. Remember to check Compass regularly for updates.  Arrangements for Remote Learning:

We have been notified that Friday 28 May will be a pupil-free day to allow teachers time to prepare. Remote and flexible learning will begin on Monday 31 May.

On Monday 31 May to Thursday 3rd June,  students will be required to undertake remote and flexible learning from home. All students will return to school on Friday 4th June.

  • Roll Marking will take place each morning at 9.00am. Students will need to log onto Teams in your Learning Mentor Teams Group to be marked present. You will have 15 minutes to check in with your Learning Mentor and any scheduled classes will commence at 9.15am.
  • For students in Years 7-10 you will receive one Lesson Plan for each subject that will last for the four days. All your teachers will meet you on Teams once during the four days and they will let you know which session this will be in your Class Newsfeed on Compass.
  • Years 11 & 12 students will continue face to face teaching on Teams following the normal timetable during the four days of remote learning. Your first lesson will commence at 9.15am after roll marking. Year 10 Fast-Tracking students are required to join the face-to-face online lessons for you Year 11 class.
