Dear Families,

Today, Friday, the Premier of Victoria announced a five-day, Stage 4 lockdown commencing from midnight tonight. Students are required to learn from home for Monday 15th, Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th February.

Children whose parents are considered essential workers as listed, cannot work from home and where no other supervision arrangements can be made and

Vulnerable children, including children in out-of-home care, children deemed by Child Protection and/or Family Services to be at risk of harm and children identified by the school as vulnerable (including via referral from a family violence agency, homelessness or youth justice service or mental health or other health service).

Can attend school on those days if they cannot be supervised at home. These students must report to the main office each day. School buses will continue to operate for these students only.

Teachers will post work on Compass for students to access. All students will be required to take home their laptops and books so they can continue to complete work that may already be set for them.

Students will be required to log into Teams with their Learning Mentor before 10:00am each day for roll marking. Year 7 students who do not have a laptop and do not know how to log onto Teams can continue to support their learning by reading and studying any learning materials they may have at home.

Regular updates will be posted on Compass to keep all families informed.

GSSC has produced a guide to remote learning with information on timetabling, support, digital resources and creating effective learning spaces. This is important information and the advice for our students, parents and carers also includes local contact details if you require additional help. Thanks for your support and assistance with this. Please understand that our college, like all schools in Victoria, is following the advice of the Chief Health Officer. Be kind to our college staff and remember, we are all in this together.

Regards,

Barbara O’Brien

Acting Executive Principal
