We’re so proud of our Year 8 girls and Year 7 boys soccer teams for their efforts in the School Sport Victoria State Soccer Championships held in Melbourne recently.
After starting strong with a 3-0 win in their first game against Daylesford Secondary College, the girls kept McKinnon Secondary College to a 1-1 draw in their second game. The final game against Thornbury High School saw GSSC win 4-1 and advance to the School Sport Victoria State Championships Grand Final.
Up against Rowville Secondary College in the grand final match, the girls were 2-1 down going into the half time break after a brilliant goal by key striker, Fofoa Tulimafono. Unfortunately, the girls were unable to maintain their winning streak resulting in a 4-1 loss.
We congratulate them on being named the 2023 School Sport Victoria State Championship Runners Up.
Our boys also had a strong start with a 3-0 win in their first game against Ballarat High School. The boys were narrowly defeated in a 2-1 loss in their second game against Kambrya College. The final game against Greensborough College saw GSSC finish strong with a 3-2 win and place second in their pool for the day.
What a fantastic effort by all and we can't wait to see what they accomplish together over the years to come at GSSC.
