Earlier this term, Year 9 students attended a live theatre production called SMASHED, delivered by Gibber Educational.
SMASHED is a dynamic alcohol-education initiative that explores the real-life impacts of underage drinking in an engaging and age-appropriate format. Launched in Australia in 2018, the program has reached more than 350,000 young people nationwide.
Designed especially for students in Years 8–10, SMASHED follows three teenage characters as they navigate decisions around peer pressure, relationships, consent, health, safety, and future ambitions. Through relatable “What if that was me?” scenarios, students are encouraged to reflect, discuss, and make informed choices. The program aligns directly with the Australian Health and Wellbeing Curriculum and relevant state laws.
The production provided a meaningful and memorable learning experience, supporting our school’s ongoing commitment to student wellbeing, responsible decision-making, and positive futures. Students thoroughly enjoyed the content and the interactive nature of the presentation.
Staff from Gibber Educational shared that they always enjoy presenting to GSSC students and look forward to visiting each year.
