Jenny Atta, Secretary of the Department of Education and Training, has thanked parents and carers of school students across the state for their patience and perseverance with remote learning. The advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer is that it is now safe for students, teachers and support staff to return to face-to-face teaching and learning.

School is returning in two stages, with Prep, Year 1 and 2 students back at primary school. Year 11 and 12 students, and some Year 10 VCAL students, have returned to secondary schools like GSSC. From 9 June, remaining students will return to on-site schooling.

After all year levels have returned, remote and flexible learning will only continue for students with medical advice stating they are unable to attend school.
