Dear parents/carers,

Over the past two years, Greater Shepparton Secondary College has been affected by significant school closures due to COVID-19. The Victorian Government is committed to helping your child get back on track for a positive start in 2022.
 
Over the 2022 summer holidays, the Victorian Government is providing your child with a chance to go on a FREE camp experience as part of its Positive Start in 2022 initiative.
 
Camps are a great way to build confidence, learn leadership skills and help your child reconnect and make new friends. They will also be able to enjoy a range of adventure activities which could include abseiling, canoeing, rope courses, bush walks, hut building, cooking and orienteering.
 
The Department of Education and Training has worked with camp providers to secure spots in existing summer programs. Your child is invited to attend one of the summer camps available.
 
Places are limited for the summer, so if you are interested in this opportunity, make sure you get your child booked in as soon as possible. Please see below  for more information and how to book.
 

SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION

When are the summer camps?

The summer camps will run in the January school holidays before school starts back for term 1, 2022.

How much does it cost?

These camps are absolutely free. It will not cost you anything for your child to attend the camp. Most of the camps can organise transport to the camps from central locations. For some camps, parents may need to provide transport for their child to the camp they select. More information will be provided by the individual camp providers.

How old does my child need to be?

Children who are in years 3 to 12 from the start of 2022 school year will be allowed to attend.

Will my child get to go with their friends?

Your child may be able to go on camp with their friends from the same school if they book to go to the same camp and there are places available. Your child will also have the chance to make new friends and build friendships with students from other schools.

What types of camps are there?

There will be a list of camps that you can choose from. Each camp will have a brief description including where it is, how long the camp will be and what days, how to get there, as well as a list of activities to help you decide which camp your child would like to attend.

How do I sign my child up?

It’s easy to sign your child up. Simply go to the link below and choose the camp that your child wants to go to. You will need to follow the registration process on the camp’s website and contact the camp directly with any questions.
